On March 26-29th, 2009, Entrepreneurs from Across Canada, the US and the World Will Come Together in the picturesque Olympic City of Vancouver, BC to Learn at the Canada Marketing Summit about “Recession-Proof” Marketing Strategies Guaranteed to Help Them Super Charge Their Businesses and THRIVE in Any Economy.

The co-host of the Event, Jeff Mills and Rob Toth have managed to commit 16 Super Elite Marketing Gurus, Business Coaches, and Life Strategists to come on those days to Vancouver and teach the ultimate 4-day marketing and mastermind session specifically designed to show entrepreneurs like you how to get quality leads and sales in today’s tough economic crunch.

Jeff Mills and Rob Toth anticipated late last year that unlike for the automotive, banking, housing and the energy industry nobody would stand up for the average small business owner and local wellness coach who will not see any bail-out packages by a long shot. They concluded that small business owners and local coaches will only be able pull themselves through the tough economic conditions, if they mastermind with business and marketing leaders willing to share proven “Recession-Proof” Marketing Strategies”.

If you live in Vancouver, Seattle area or plan a business trip there during the March 26-29, 2009 period contact Jeff and Rob, the co-host of the Event to register and listen to the great line-up of marketing who’s who speakers including:

This great line-up is completed by Outsourcing Coach and Top Marketing Consultant Jeff Mills, who started out surfing waves in Huntington Beach, California and later moved to Canada to study at a bible college in Edmonton, Alberta. He subsequently worked as a full-time Youth Pastor in Minnesota for nine years, before getting bitten by the Internet bug in 1999 and decided to follow his passion and start his own Internet business. Since then, Jeff has successfully marketed hundreds of products and services in almost every niche market imaginable on the Web.

Today Jeff is widely considered one of the utmost authorities on personal branding and outsourcing in the United States. He is also the Host of the “Midwest Super Conference” - one of the top annual marketing training events for entrepreneurs and small business owners in the United States for the past six years.

Jeff’s co-host, Rob Toth, the smart, Canadian Internet Marketing Strategist aka as the “Genie”, runs his company right from the heart of downtown Vancouver, BC.

After just a few short years in the industry, Rob is widely considered to be one of the most in-demand Internet marketing strategists around. An expert in designing online sales funnels, Rob specializes in showing local and international business owners precisely how to generate leads and profits from their “web properties.”

Rob has marketed a host of products through the Internet including physical books, specialized fitness equipment, seminars, a wide range of information products, wellness programs and more.

The first annual Canada Marketing Summit is being held on Rob’s “home turf” and he’s right in the mix making sure this event builds into the most valuable 4-day annual “direct response” marketing seminar in Canadian history.

iCan Canada Wellness Coaching

The americans followed Barack and Joe Biden and said “Yes We Can”. The Canadians have their own response by following Ceridian Canada Ltd., a leading Human Resources solutions provider in saying “iCanQuit”, “iCanRelax” and “iCanChange”. The company launched on the 5th February 2009, its countrywide “iCan Canada Wellness Coaching” solution, the first service of its kind in Canada.

The Ceridian Canada Ltd iCan Canada Wellness Coaching program is based on solid scientific research. It leverages more than a decade of experience delivering this program to Ceridian Employee clients in the US. Ceridian Canada is now able to roll out the same effective solution to Canadian employers.

The iCan Canada Wellness Coaching Program provides one-on-one, long-term coaching support tailored to an individual’s specific needs, helping participants to achieve and sustain health-focused behavioural changes that may not otherwise be achievable.

“There are many expert sources of health and wellness information available today - we are surrounded by messages telling us to quit smoking, eat right and exercise. The real gap has always been not “what to do”, but rather “how to do it”, and especially how to maintain those changes throughout times when motivation wanes,” said Estelle Morrison, Director of Health Management with Ceridian’s EAP and Organizational Wellness offering. “Ceridian understands and respects that every person is an individual, and that sources of motivation, learning styles and methods of support will differ from person to person.

Through individualized plans of action, Ceridian’s certified wellness coaches work collaboratively with each client to identify goals, launch the change process, address any barriers to change, and provide continued support to secure a lasting lifestyle improvement.”

The iCan Canada Wellness Program includes three specific modules: iCanRelax (Stress Management), iCanQuit (Smoking Cessation) and iCanChange (Weight Management), as well as a general health module for those with broader wellness goals. Following an extensive assessment, each client is matched with a Certified Wellness Coach - a professional not only with specific health-related expertise, but with specialized training in motivation and behaviour change. The coach works with the client for the duration of the program, resulting in the development of a trusted relationship and a higher degree of goal attainment.

Ceridian iCan Canada Wellness Coaching is proven effective and boasts exemplary success rates. In a study of 40,000 participants over a 10-year period, 85% of participants achieved weight loss or stabilization with 48% dropping at least one BMI (Body Mass Index) unit; more than 70 percent of stress management participants reported stress-related symptom improvements; and the smoking cessation program resulted in quit rates that exceeded physician-assisted programs by 2.5 times. Considering the rise in chronic illness, aging baby boomers as well as public health shortages, such meaningful health programs have become a critical component of a healthy workforce and business strategy.

Ceridian has always been committed to innovation, and to leveraging best practices in the development and delivery of high-quality, effective wellness solutions for our clients,” said Dave MacKay, President, Ceridian Canada. “From action-focused counselling available 24/7 through our Employee Assistance Program to Productivity Management and Health Assessments, Wellness Coaching complements Ceridian’s existing workplace wellness solutions and completes the picture for our clients’ employees. Now more than ever, employers need to look to providing valuable tools to their employees to ensure productivity is maintained, and top performers are retained.”

Canada “Better For You” Products

Thursday, December 11th, 2008
Italian olive oil, both oil and an oil bottle ...

Image via Wikipedia

Better For You” is a category used to described health and wellness products popularized by the North America and Western Europe weight management and weight loss fads like the “South Beach” and “Atkins” diets as well as concerted public authority campaigns in these countries in favour of healthy eating habits to stop the obesity pandemic.

The category includes food and beverage products where the amount of a substance considered to be less healthy (such as fat, sugar, salt, carbohydrates) has been actively reduced or removed during the production process

In 2005, global Better For You (BFY) sales in this category was estimated at US$108.9 billion, with health beverage and food supplements sales achieving respectively 11% and 8% annual growth.

Canadians, as educated consumers, have shown strong demand for Better For You products in an attempt to follow healthier lifestyles. According to AC Nielson research, the number of products listed as “better for you” in Canada doubled the new labelling standards from Health Canada came into effect in 2003, which allows for health claims to be displayed on product labels. This is currently a successful and predictably long-staying trend as companies develop new BFY options and nutritionally improved staple food products such as naturally healthier olive oil and whole grain bread.

BFY snack foods are strong performers in the Canadian market, with reduced-fat items outpacing sales of conventional products. Reduced-fat biscuits, sweet and savoury snacks, as well as extruded snacks, such as flavoured rice crisps and soy crisps, are strong performers at retail grocery stores across the country. In particular, the major sweet and savoury snack producer Frito-Lay Canada, boosted sales of BFY products when its reduced-fat “Baked” Lay’ s and Tostitos were introduced to the market. Reduced-fat products are also popular for staple food items such as milk, oils and fats, as well as in convenience products such as frozen and chilled ready-meals. For instance, despite a decrease in per capita consumption of milk, reduced-fat milk sales grew 4% in 2006, and reduced-fat yogurt represented over a third of all retail sales of yogurt in Canada.

Healthier oils and fats is a major trend affecting Canadian consumers as the population has become more educated about health problems associated with the high-fat content of traditional products. Over half of all retail sales of spreadable oils and fats are from reduced-fat, reduced-salt, or reduced combination BFY products, as well as naturally healthy olive oil spreads. This success can mainly be attributed to Unilever Canada‘ s aggressive marketing of its ‘Becel’ brand as a healthy alternative to butter. Sales of naturally healthy olive oil are strong, with higher priced imported “extra virgin” varieties boosting sales values.
