Canada Wellness People: Minister’s Remarks Puts Chiropractors Under the Spotlight

Honourable Gary Goodyear, Canada’s Science and Technology Minister, the man at the centre of the controversy over federal funding cuts to researchers, is reported to have sparked the controversy by declining to confirm in an interview, whether he believes in evolution. He is quoted as having replied as follows:.

”I’m not going to answer that question. I am a Christian, and I don’t think anybody asking a question about my religion is appropriate,”

Instead of going into the widely discussed merits and demerits of the statement, we wanted to find as the  Honourable Minister is a chiropractor by training,  how chiropractors are making news in other countries of the world. The US Mitchell County Press-News reports that a Local chiropractor welcomes space age technology . It says the local Street Chiropractic has upgraded it’s level of care to include technology that has benefited NASA, Super Bowl champions, Olympic Gold medallists and numerous A-list celebrities…

The Record and Herald News reports that Chiropractors wrestle with robber in Clifton. Chiropractics James Hubert and Terry Watts apparently witnessed “a screaming woman chasing a man” near their chiropractic Centre on Allwood Road, and they could hardly believe their eyes… and wouldn’t the miss the opportunity to join the wrestling game… ·

The US Carrollton Leader reports that Spinal health key to staying young . It says “people are living longer these days compared to 100 years ago. By 2050, research suggests 800,000 Americans will be over 100 and that many people will live to be 150 and thus confirm the growing demand for chiropractic services in the coming years.

The New Zealand Herald complains that Spinal Care Costs NZ $13.5 Million a Year to the delight of local chiropractors. It say that “Taxpayers are forking out $13.5 million a year to send New Zealanders to chiropractors - 50 per cent more than five years ago. But debate still rages over whether the treatment works, with some GPs advising the treatment should… ·”

Canada Wellness Institutions: Government of Canada Breaking Down Barriers of Accessibility

The Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, in announcing the Government of Canada’s support through the Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAF) to the North East Centre of Community Society (NECCS) said, “Our goal is to make sure that the Genesis Centre will be accessible to everyone, regardless of ability, age, language, background or economic status,”

The EAF is part of a $45-million, three-year commitment to expand opportunities for people with disabilities and improve accessibility across Canada.

The EAF has two funding streams: small projects and major projects. Participatory abilities centres assist people with varying abilities, supporting social and labour market integration.

They encourage the pursuit of knowledge, skills development, and physical and mental health Centres may offer services and programs ranging from fitness instruction to educational activities to art therapy. Read About the background to this story at Accessability International News
